Thanks to 1.77 My iPaq is Dead!!!!
I'm just waiting for the box to show up so I can send it back to Compaq.  The system froze right as the ROM was being written during the 1.69 to 1.77 upgrade.  After that it would not boot.  Below is a shot of the OS-less system, doing whatever the hardware felt like.  It's interesting to note that the backlight does not come on.  But more fun is the fact that the Power button does not work.  The only way to turn it off now is to open the door and slide the switch.

The blotchy Blue/brown screen actually looks that way. It looks like a random collection of blue and brown dots. And I just started on a new contract!

Some information that may help Mr. Brewer
Here are some links to some Registry Key extracts for an error reported at  Yahoo's PocketPC Group . I searched my registry for the two large numbers shown in the error.  They are Class ID keys for a couple of "My Computer" and "Mobile Device" entries.

This set is for 20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D
 Key1   Key2   Key3   Key4

This set is for 49BF5420-FA7F-11cf-8011-00A0C90A8F78
 Key1   Key2   Key3

Check the contents of these keys against your own keys. Any real difference should be obvious. Then "fix" your keys to match and see if this helps. Of course, you should always back up your registry before you try to make any changes.

Good Luck!

Want to see how wonderful miniaturization is?  I found a replacement head from a mid 80's disk drive that really say's a lot about how far we have come.

Ever wondered what the inside of an iPaq looks like?  We did too, so we took one apart and have it's guts here for you to enjoy.
